News at The Book Cove: Great Lakes Book Blogger Alliance
As some of my followers are aware, I (the main muscle behind The Book Cove) am located in the Great State of Michigan. This past month I was given the opportunity to become a part of this organization/blog congregation known as The Great Lakes Book Blogger Alliance or GLBBA. GLBBA is a great organization because it gives those of us in the Great Lakes region (MN, WI, IL, IN, MI, OH, PA, and NY residents)a chance to get to know one another on a more personal level as well as share in experiences and opportunities that the book world has to offer.Just as an example of what GLBBA is all about, this coming October 20th, 2013 - GLBBA will be hosting a get-together in Rochester Michigan. This is a free event where book bloggers/vloggers are able to connect with other local book bloggers while having some coffee and dessert and chatting about whatever beholds us. Additionally there will be a mixer hour, a guest speaker, and book related games and prizes. Best of all, the tickets to this event are FREE (but space is limited)!
If this sounds like something that you'd like to be a part of, here is what is asked by the GLBBA organization:
(1) You must be 18 or older.
(2) You must be a book blogger or vlogger.
(3) You must reside in the following states: Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Pennsylvania or New York.
If you meet these requirements, head on over to this form and sign up to be a part of GLBBA!
Further, within a decent traveling distance of Rochester, MI you're welcome to come check out the GLBBA event and can grab some tickets here. (Event scheduled to take place from 4-7 pm in the Dessert Oasis Coffee Roasters - The Reading Room).
Furthermore, if you are a Michigan native (of at least 10 years) or current resident and take part in anything bookish (run a shop, author, editor, cover stylist, publisher, blogger, etc) - you might consider checking out Michigan Bookster. This is a new site dedicated to providing a simple list of Michigan book related people and events. It is free to be listed. All that is asked is that you are currently representing the Michigan book world in some way.
