( Blurb ): On a bitterly cold January evening, Tracy Ellis went for a jog along Chicago’s snowy lakefront and disappeared. Her body was discovered days later, her beautiful face bashed in with a rock. Police determine her brutal death to be a mugging gone wrong and drop the matter into their cold case files. Over a year later, Tracy’s sister, Sondra, still can’t come to grips with what happened. She throws herself into her work as a documentary filmmaker to try and forget the cruelty of her sister’s death. However, a chance encounter with a man from Tracy’s past rips the wound open and sends Sondra on a desperate search for answers about the secrets from her sister’s life that may have led to her death. (Blurb): A maltreated orphan in the land of the Old Coast in Ghana overcame the ordeals in this, unpredictable world when the American missionary, Reverend Matthew Mac-White Blackteng, used the collar on his neck as the method of intervention. The untimely call of Rev. M.W. Blackteng by the Father in heaven was the beginning of rising pains to be yet unraveled… Review:  Honestly, you guys, I did not finish this book. I found that there were too many times where I had to ask myself “who is this character, again?” There were also times where I did not understand what the characters were saying and this book really struggled to hold my attention. However, I did like that the author did include his honest thoughts in what I believe is his memoir; some of them are thought provoking and memorable. I also liked that the author included some of his native (I believe) language in the book. Rating: DNF

(Blurb): Erin never would have expected to fall in love. Never. Not with her past, and not with her fear. She never dated; she didn't even allow herself friendships. She didn't trust her judge-of-character skills enough to allow anyone close...until Marcus. With him, a deep connection happened in spite of the walls she'd so carefully constructed around herself. His self-confessed rage fueled much of his life, with the exception of her. For Erin, Marcus dares to make the step toward love…one with the potential to heal them both. Review: Unlikely Hero is the first book in the Atlanta Series and as this book was my first introduction to author Kemmie Michaels, I must say I loved it! What I liked I'm a sports fan. So anytime a sports themed book can really draw me in - I know it's going to be a good time! I especially love MMA (mixed martial arts) and being very familiar with the sport, I was impressed with the number of details that the author p

I'm so far behind on posting reviews it's crazy and I feel like I'm never going to be able to catch up (even though 95% of them are already completed and just need to be posted!) A HUGE thanks goes out to my loyal helpers. For those of you that have been reviewing and turning books over like crazy - you are amazing and I truly appreciate it (as do the authors and publishers!)! I plan to do something for my faithful helpers as soon as I have five seconds to sit down and think about it! So what's going on at The Book Cove? Good question! I have no idea! Haha, just kidding. I do have some control left over here...little, but some ;-) First, I'd like to thank K.C. Finn for nominating The Book Cove for the Versatile  Blogger Award! It really makes us at The Book Cove feel good knowing that our readers appreciate what we are blogging about. We love, love, love the communities feedback on our

(Blurb) : “I'm not sure what possessed me to do it. Maybe it was the impossible expectations I faced, maybe it was my own self-loathing. But I just knew I needed something different to happen. I needed someone... something... to derail me from my current path. Otherwise, I would become lost... a hollowed out shell of a man. So I did it. I approached her, then I pursued her, then I made her mine. And my life was saved...” Ryan Burnham is the privileged son of a U.S. Congressman and captain of his university’s hockey team.
