Guest Review: David Ricketts reviews Cerberus - Book 1 of Parish (Solace #1) by P.K. Gallagher

Image
( Blurb ):  For Kaeden Parish, life in Solace has always followed certain rules—everything makes sense, everything can be planned for, and everything is as it seems. Unfortunately, the secret harbored by his gorgeous, albeit guarded girlfriend is about to shatter all of that. After a successful attack on his life opens his eyes to a world of war, shadows, and supernatural creatures—a world he didn’t plan for—Kaeden finds himself resembling the sort of monster he has always feared. As he desperately struggles to resist a new temptation, danger draws ever nearer, threatening the ones he loves most. A prophecy tells of a final battle and great destruction, and Kaeden must decide which side he is on, a choice that could mean the end of the world. In Book 1 of the Solace Series, P.K. Gallagher pulls readers into a realm where good and evil are at war, and the outcome of it all rests on one young man’s decision to either go and live...or stay and die. This is where Parish begins. Book Talk: Reviews from an Author's Point of View

Recently, Jessi posted a very interesting and enlightening blog on being a reviewer. Here’s the author’s point of view. Imagine you are a parent preparing your precious darling for the first day of school. You have fussed over her appearance, dressed her in Sunday best. Now your eyes fill with pride. She’s everything you ever dreamed; witty and charming, possessor of an adventurous spirit and an intriguing backstory—all your friends have said so. Really, you can’t see a thing that needs fixing. With a kiss for luck you send her out the door to strangers. Soon there comes a knock. The principal is on the stoop. He hands back your child. “Take her,” he says with a frowny face. “She’s awful.” You gape at him in horror. “How can that be? I’ve worked so hard to make her perfect.” He rolls his eyes. “Oh please. Her character is lifeless. Her dialog is stilted and…” He eyes you severely. “Her middle drags. I suspect her genre is crossed.” “But…but…I love her just the way sh
