Blog Talk: Why The Book Cove remains an ad-free site

When it comes to site advertising I have a simple thought - to each their own. Getting more personal now , I really dislike  going to sites where there are constant pop-ups, talking promo videos, and annoying non-stop flashing on side bars . Hence the reason The Book Cove does not have any page advertisements. (I can not understand how certain sites do so well monetarily when the sites have irrelevant pop-ups covering the screen and cluttered advertising...but I digress. That's a personal rant I will not subject anyone to ;-) ) Furthermore, The Book Cove is what would be considered (still) a new site. We are rapidly gaining exposure to booksters around the world, however, we are not the million-traffic-hitter that other more prominent sites are (a reason why $$ advertisements are useless to us). And that's okay! This site was not started with the intention to generate an income. Again, to each their own. In fact, I admire those who are able to make their blog(s) profitabl

Book Blitz: Speak to Me With Tenderness, Howard Sun by Heather Fowler

This is an excerpt from a piece called “Speak to Me With Tenderness, Howard Sun.” In it, our protagonist Lisa combats her growing fascination with an incredibly attractive yet awkward male co-worker who uses multiple personas on Facebook to interact with her. She starts to feel paranoid, not know who is really whom. Her discovery of Howard Sun’s veiled interest is not without a certain irritated and baffled series of exchanges. Read the footnotes to get an insight into what I was thinking as I wrote this piece! Excerpt: Then came the escalating gifts—two Hershey’s Kisses on her desk one morning that he denied leaving her though she had watched him place them there, the unexpected daffodils, memos he wrote to reduce her workload, that mix CD that floored her since it was full of the sort of well-spoken love songs she couldn’t even imagine him listening to—and just the other day, he had invited her to a football game. “I have two tickets,” he said. “Want one?” “To go to

Book Blitz: Unfinished Business an Angela Panther novel by Carolyn Aspenson

Image
One minute Angela's a typical stay at home mom, and the next, she's a psychic psychologist to the dead . Ghosts aren't real. At least that's what Angela Panther believed right up until the moment her late mother popped in for a chat. Her mother's reappearance, just hours after the hearse drove off with her corpse, opens the door to the other side, and suddenly Angela's life is jam-packed with dead people. Between keeping tabs on her mother's ghostly mishaps, watching out for her drama-prone teenage daughter, and helping a son who shares her psychic gift, the reluctant medium isn't sure she's capable of tackling the unfinished business of the dead. Not that they care. UNFINISHED BUSINESS (AN ANGELA PANTHER NOVEL) is a 79,000-word paranormal/chick lit declaration of love. Although humorous and full of sarcastic wit, this story about relationships will hit home with anyone who's lost a loved one and wished to speak with them, even if only one
