Feature and Follow #23 (favorite reads of 2014)
What is Feature and Follow?
F&F is a weekly blog hop that consists of book bloggers. It is hosted byAlison Can Read and Parajunkee. The rules of involvement are simple:
1.) Link up on the blog hop Linky gadget below this post, 2.) follow the hosts via their network of choice, 3.) follow the weekly featured blog(s) via their network of choice (listed as "featured" in the blog list below), and lastly, 4) check out the rest of the blogs on the hop! If you become a new follower of a blog, let them know and they will follow you back.
The F&F is a great way to network, meet other book bloggers, and gain new followers. Even more so, it's a great way to drive fun discussion on a weekly topic.
Happy New Year!!!! What was your favorite book of 2014 - or books if you can't name just one? - Suggested by Alison Can Read.
I didn't read as many books in 2014 as I have in past years. After going back and counting posts I realized that I only reviewed about 10 books! I read a lot more than that but stuck to only reviewing the ones that stood out the most. Of those, my 2014 favorites have come from those I just recently read in the past two weeks (love winter breaks!); Alienated by Melissa Landers, and Lux Series Obsidian (#1) and Onyx (#2) by Jennifer Armentrout. These three stood out from all of the rest because they were series reads with more complex plots, had great characters (both MC and secondary), and were a genre relief for me (YA Sci fi/paranormal rather than NA contemporary romance). One of my favorite NA contemporary romances of the year was Smoldering by Tiffany Aleman.

Alienated is on my list too! And I absolutely love the Lux series, except so far I've only read the first two books.

Here’s my F&F
I've just started the 3rd. They are so good I didn't move for 4 days haha
DeleteI have yet to read the Obsidian series (I know! I'm living under a rock!) but I've heard so many great things about it. Great picks! And Happy New year! :P

Natasha @ Dreamland Teenage Fantasy
It's been on my TBR for well over a year now and I kept forgetting about it. It finally popped up on my radar again and I was in the right mood and I'm so happy I did :)
DeleteAlienated is also on my list!! I loved that book!
ReplyDeleteHave you seen the tv show called Star-crossed

I have seen Star-crossed! That was what I immediately thought of when I was reading about Alienated. I can't wait for Abducted release in February!!
DeleteI loved Alienated, too, Jessi! I haven't read the other books you mentioned, but I have them on my TBR lists :)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, and happy Friday.
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews
I feel like I've lived under a rock after just now discovering Melissa Landers. Thanks for stopping by Lexxie
DeleteI've heard so much about Armentrout but haven't read her yet. I need to get on the ball or I'm going to be so behind!
ReplyDeleteHere's my #FF post
Amber @ Dystopian Wonders
It took me a while to get around to the Lux Series. I don't know what I was expecting but it's different than I thought reading the book blurbs
DeleteI saw Alienated around, but none of the others. I wanted to read Alienated, but I wasn't motivated enough to. :/
ReplyDeleteI just stumbled upon Alienated when someone listed it as one of their favorite book covers of 2014. It was the cover that made me check it out. When your up for a good intergalactic YA fantasy/romance this one won't disappoint :)
DeleteI thought the Lux series was brilliant :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year.

The second book of Alienated, "Abducted", comes out in February if that's any incentive ;)
DeleteI saw Alienated around a lot this year, so I guess I should probably pick it up soon, especially since the second book comes out pretty soon as well, I think? I know I really need to read some Jennifer L. Armentrout, too!

Comes out in Feb! There was a 1.5 release on Christmas Eve called Until Midnight. It's a few extra pages (for free on Amazon) that describes their last day together before they're forced to their tasks. It was a nice bridger that made me fall in love with them again :)
DeleteI really enjoyed the Jennifer L. Armentrout books, but I haven't read Alienated. It has a beautiful cover. Thank you for stopping by. :)

The cover is what caught my attention too. I love creative covers
DeleteI need to read those Armentrout books now that I've tried one of hers and loved it. I see everyone talking about Alienated as well, guess I need to read this one too! Thanks for stopping by my post earlier, I'm an old Bloglovin follower.
ReplyDeleteYeah I kept putting Armentrout off because I figured it was more overly hyped work but I'm definitely making sure I read her other work now
DeleteI haven't heard Smouldering, or read Alienation yet, but I'll have to! And the Lux series is so good! I just kinda wish we could've gotten something for Opposition like Obsession was for Origin, an adult novel featuring an Arum couple, like the brother of Hunter! Which could've tied into the parts of Opposition that featured Arum! Such a lost opportunity! Anyways! Great picks! Old Bloglovin' follower! Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI've only made my way to book 3 so far but what you said has me excited to keep reading! Thanks for stopping by
DeleteI love JLA's Lux series I'm going to be starting the final book soon so sad the series is over.
ReplyDeleteLuckily I have a little bit before I run out of Daemon. I'm only on book 3 ;)
DeleteOoh I love the Lux series!!! I'm glad they're on your favorite's list!!! Thanks for stopping by earlier!!!

DeleteYes, Impossible to pick just one! Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteEspecially when I like many different genres. I could probably pick my favorite in each one, but not one overall!
DeleteI really do want to read Alienated. The cover is so impacting, I'm hoping for another Across the Universe.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of Across The Universe but I just checked it out and it sounds like it would be of similar interest. I'll have to put that one on my TBR
DeleteHey!
ReplyDeleteThank you for checking out my blog! You have some amazing picks! I haven't actually started any of the books on your favourites list yet. However I really want to pick up JLA's books soon. Also Alienated sounds really good! Never really been one for Sci-Fi, but will have a go!

I'm not a huge Sci fi reader either but I wouldn't consider Alienated a hardcore sci-fi. It's other worldly, yet the first book takes place on earth and deals more with assimilation of aliens and isn't as laborious as I find many other sci-fi reads to be. It helps that it is YA with a romance theme.
DeleteHappy New Year,I'm just stopping by!Old follower.

Alienated is also one of my favorites! :) Thanks for stopping by my blog.
