Feature and Follow #4 (What I've learned blogging)

Increase Blog FollowersIt's another FF day! As always, give a shout out the Parajunkee and Alison Can Read - the wonderful hosts of this long-going blog hop feature.

This weeks Question:

Share something you’ve learned about book blogging or just blogging in general in the last month.

bloglovinWhat I've learned is that you can't let others dictate your schedule. Sometimes I get so caught up in pushing reviews out that I lose focus on the real reason I started blogging; as something fun for me to do as I relax at night. My advice, unless you're doing this as a career, you should not feel pressured to review or promote others' works. Work at your own leisure and emphasize quality not quantity.

  1. I couldn't agree more. I've got to learn when to say no. It isn't personal, I just don't want to get overwhelmed! Happy Friday! Old follower.

  3. This is great advice. I have gotten so stressed over trying to finish books and push out reviews that blogging isn't fun. And I started blogging for FUN. :) I'm trying to set a better schedule for myself so I can enjoy reading and reviewing. Thanks for sharing this. And Happy Friday!

  5. Yep! I usually stress myself out but now, I'm trying to enjoy life a bit more. Also, your website is a bit distracting. I love the page idea, but with the posts shifted so far, it's a bit hard to read. Maybe you can shift it so it's more 70% post and 30% sidebar?

    Followed!

Check out my feature in return? Don’t forget to follow via Bloglovin’!

    1. Thanks for the advice Nova. I'll see what I can do with it. I know that browser type has a lot to do with it unfortunately. IE tends to offset it more than chrome or FF

  8. I definitely agree, I've learned to not say yes unless I know I have the time I want to give to it, if I don't I either tell them it will be a little while if they don't mind waiting or I can just turn it down. That way I don't get too stressed out with a pile of reviews to get out!

  11. You're so right! Most of us got into this because it's supposed to be fun. If it starts to dictate what you're doing or gets overwhelming then it's time to reevaluate what you want out of it. If it's still just to have fun...then dial it back a bit. Old follower and thanks for stopping by this week!

  12. Great advice, if you're doing this for fun don't take it too seriously and stress yourself out. If you're having fun it will show. :) Happy Friday

  14. Good advice. In my first month I posted 50 reviews which was insane but I pushed through as I wanted to get some content on my site. I've had to slow down though as blogging was getting in the way of my reading - unacceptable :)

  15. I totally agree! I've forced myself to post as and when I can now. I have to juggle blogging between my job and my writing so I have to blog this way otherwise I would be pressuring myself and it would become too much like an unpaid job and no longer fun. I always want it to be fun :0)

  16. Yeah - there's always that rush to get new content up. Especially when you're just starting out (as this blog is). But then you start to realize that there's other ways to go about getting new content up than stressing yourself out over reviews and scheduling. That's what I love about getting involved in blog hops and memes and whatnot.
