If you're looking for an action-packed suspense, then this is for you. Pushed to the Edge brings civilian and military life together as a series of events taking place all over the world are slowly pieced together to reveal the truth behind what is going on. The timing in which the events unfolds is perfect; revealing just enough information to keep your interest all the while taking you down new roads that have you questioning everyone's motives.
I especially loved the relationship between Victoria and Joshua. It does a fantastic job at portraying how timing in life has a lot to do with where you end up. The trials between these two characters exemplify the power of understanding; be it an immediate process or one that which grows as one progresses through life.
Mathis does a great job at integrating many characters into this constantly evolving story. Given the number of involved characters, their actions are well laid out and easy to follow. However, I felt that a couple of the characters could have been more developed. In the beginning, I thought that Will and Olivia would be the main characters we followed through the story. While Will's story does continue, I kind of felt like Olivia's was left behind and her story ended prematurely. Olivia's story was not a major staple of the plot, however, so by loosing her story I didn't feel as though the plot was missing a big piece. This is the 1st of a series of books, and I'm sure Will and Olivia will be back - and I can't wait! They've got an some interesting personality differences ;-)
Overall, I highly recommend this book. There's a touch of romance in it too for those of you that are like me and love some romance in every type of book.
